Argentina wins sixteenth Copa America

Messi's absence does not stop Argentina

Argentina won the Copa América for the 16th time in their history after defeating Colombia 1-0 in the final on Saturday. The victory was Argentina's first major title since 1993 and their first Copa América title since 1991.

Di Maria scores the winner

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute, curling a beautiful shot into the top corner from the edge of the area. Colombia had plenty of chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past Argentina's defense. Lionel Messi did not play in the final due to injury but his teammates were determined to win the title for him

Argentina's dominance continues

Argentina's victory continues their dominance of the Copa América. They have now won the tournament more than any other country and have reached the final in the last three editions. With Messi still only 34 years old, Argentina will be confident of adding to their tally in the years to come.
